Kapil Dev Congratulates Imran Khan, Expects Better India-Pakistan Relations

Winning the ICC World Cup as a skipper in 1992 to winning the general elections and on becoming the Prime Minister of his country, the story of Pakistan’s Imran Khan is quite an inspiration to receive. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Patron Imran is all set to swear in as the 19th Prime Minister of the county. Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer, Kapil Dev congratulates the former all-rounder on the achievement and expecting a lot from him.

The legendary all-rounder Dev showered praises on Imran for his latest accomplishment. He feels that winning the world cup for his country as a leader and to become a supreme leader is a great feeling in itself.
Dev is optimistic about Imran using the supreme power for the betterment of his country. The Haryana-based professional added that cricket is nothing in front of a country which should be taken care of by quality people.
“It’s a huge achievement. The game of cricket is nothing before the country. He was passionate when he won the world and he is still the same. It took him 25 years to reach here. I hope his success should be utilised for the betterment of his nation,” Kapil Dev said to ABP news.
“It a great feeling to have represented your nation on the cricket field and then become its supreme leader. So many players have been in different political position, but no one has got to such a big post,” he added.
On Indo-Pak Cricketing ties:
Kapil Dev feels that Imran Khan, being a cricketer, he might look for a diplomacy between India and Pakistan. He added that the cricket fraternity will be glad if Imran Khan brings back the old India-Pakistan cricket glory.
“Since Imran has been a cricketer, he probably likes to improve the conditions. Even the cricketer fraternity agrees to it. But the conditions off the field should be improved first. He has been to India many times and he knows our love for cricket. He might focus on bettering the diplomacy between both the nations. And if it could be done with the help of cricket then we cricketers will be very glad,” he added.
However, it was a great achievement by the former skipper of Pakistan Imran after a successful career in gentleman’s game cricket.
