In the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) raised a few eyebrows with their selections which consisted of exorbitant amounts for various players above 30 years of age.

One of them is Indian international, Kedar Jadhav for whom Stephen Fleming and co. had to shell out a whopping INR 7.8 crores.

However, his coach from the Maharashtra team, Surendra Bhave believes Chennai Super Kings would profit from this buy and that Jadhav is worth the money. Bhave cited out his performance at the International level, as the reason for teams going all guns blazing for the pocket dynamite.

“Kedar’s totally worth the money he’s getting. He may have had a patchy IPL last year but played really well for India – that’s definitely a few levels above. If he’s in good form in South Africa, he’ll be an impact player come April,” claimed Surendra Bhave according to SportstarLive.

Jadhav has represented various franchises before CSK such, as Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, coming in handy at the all-important number five and six positions.

“Kedar excels when he has lesser number of balls. Even for India, when he doesn’t have too many deliveries at his disposal he scores at a very brisk pace. Maybe CSK will be tempted to use him at No. 5 or 6,” further added the coach.

Furthermore, Jadhav has developed quite a reputation for inhabiting the golden arm. Virat Kohli has made full use of his deceiving bowling capacities, as he had already notched up 16 International wickets in the 27 ODIs so far. With MS Dhoni’s affinity towards spin bowling, it might not be a surprise to see the side-on bowler pick up a few crucial wickets in the middle, even though he had not bowled in the league so far.

“And if “he (Kedar) looks after his fitness, he’s a pretty destructive T20 player. His general idea of cricket is to go after loose deliveries. Kedar has that special talent for manufacturing shots when the ball’s not there – he shuffles around the crease, gets into good position and makes sure he strikes at least at 140,” affirmed Bhave on the 32-year-old from Pune.

“With M.S. Dhoni leading CSK, there’s every possibility he (Kedar) might be called in for one or two overs – sometimes, you need smart bowlers, especially after the powerplay, to slip in a few deceptive overs,” concluded Surendra Bhave on Kedar Jadhav.
