Due to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, the extravaganza cannot take place in India this year. Instead, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will play as hosts for the tournament, slated to begin on the 19th of September till the 8th of November. Initially, the competition had to be postponed twice as the spread of the virus showed no signs of slowing down. Reportedly, the BCCI would have suffered a loss of 4000 crores had the cash-rich league not taken place.
