Lockie Ferguson captivated one and all with his raw pace during the 2019 World Cup. Ferguson was a part of the New Zealand squad which came agonizingly close to get their hands on the World Cup but missed out on a whisker. It will be a chance for Lockie Ferguson to now show his calibre for KKR in the IPL 2020.

KKR will be vying for their third title in IPL. Ferguson with his raw pace will come in handy for the side. The Kiwi star admitted that he has been a KKR fan ever since the opening match in the IPL when Brendon McCullum played the knock of his career.

“Brendon (McCullum) was definitely one of our heroes while growing up. After watching him do so well in the first match for KKR, it was hard not to be a Kolkata fan. So yeah, I am super excited and I think Purple and Gold doesn’t look bad on me at all,” Lockie Ferguson told kkr.in.

“The team we have (for this season) is looking super strong. Last year, we ended up sort of mid-table, so hopefully, this year we will get a chance to improve on that performance,” he added.

Ferguson has the experience of playing 51 T20s, where he has picked up 47 wickets at an average of 28.31. His experience in the shortest format of the game will come in crucial for the KKR during the upcoming IPL.

IPL 2020 will be played entirely in UAE due to the pandemic situation forcing the cricket board to host the tournament away from India. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah will be the three venues used for the tournament. Dream 11 have been named as the sponsor for the upcoming season of the tournament after VIVO pulled out.

All the franchise have arrived in UAE with some of the foreign players still to join the squad. Players from England and Australia will join their respective franchises once their ongoing three-match T20I series concludes.
