New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson picked up Rohit Sharma as a very challenging batsman and further went to describe why he feels so. There is no doubt that Rohit Sharma has made shot-making look effortlessly easy. The opening batsman captivated the audience with his pull shot which often ends up in the second tier.
Rohit Sharma usually starts off slow and accelerates once he scores his century. He has been a joy to watch over the years. Moreover, Rohit Sharma is the only batsman to hit three double centuries in the ODI format, making it look like a cake walk. Two of his three double tons have come against Sri Lanka with career-best score of 264 runs. By his own admission, Rohit Sharma has said that, if he stays in the crease for the first 10 overs it will be difficult to get him out.
Ferguson said that Rohit is challenging because if we don’t get him out quickly he is set to score daddy hundreds. He also added that the opener picks up the length quickly and knows where his strength lies. Ferguson also added that he is a world class batsman besides Steve Smith, David Warner and Virat Kohli.
“Good question, there’s quite a few. Rohit, I’ve found him very challenging. With him, if you don’t get him out quickly, he tends to go big. He picks up the length very quickly and where my strengths lie, batters play the wrong shot. He’s a world-class batter,” Lockie Ferguson was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
With the series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe called-off, Rohit will be next seen in action when he leads the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020, starting in September.
The Mumbai batsman has started preparing for the lucrative tournament.
