India’s batsman KL Rahul has shed light on his performance in the recently concluded England tour. Rahul was not up to the mark as he struggled to get going in the English conditions. He could not tackle the inswinging deliveries and had to pay the price. Rahul could not mould his game according to the conditions. Thus, he found it difficult to come up roses in the English conditions.
However, it was too late when KL Rahul finally found his Midas Touch in the final innings. Rahul played a majestic knock of 149 in the second innings of the fifth Test to give India a ray of hope. Apart from the final innings, it was a disappointing tour for Rahul.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul was brilliant in the slip cordon as he held some fantastic catches.
Rahul revealed he was stuck in his mind whether to play the natural game or respect the conditions and the bowlers in the initial phase. The right-hander believes a lack of clarity led to his downfall in England.
“I don’t think anything extraordinary happened in the final test. I was just very clear in my head. In the first two test matches, I was stuck in between whether to play my natural game or whether to respect the bowlers and the conditions,” Rahul said while talking to Scroll.in
I was caught between two thoughts.
Rahul believes the same can happen to the best of the players if they are caught between two stools.
“It tends to happen to the best of batsmen when you tour a tough place like England, and you are caught in between all these thoughts. I think that’s what happened to me in the first few games. Yeah, it was my first England tour – difficult conditions and it was a great experience for a young player like me. Once I got used to the conditions, I realised I need to be true to my game and back my natural instincts. I am really happy I could finish the tour on a high”.

Therefore, Rahul believes it is crucial for International players to be mentally strong in their character. The players are tested physically but mental strength also plays a key role in a player’s career.
Crucial to be Mentally strong.
“The only way to be successful in international Cricket is to be mentally strong and relaxed but I think it comes with more time and experience and the more games you play, you get more experience; you realize how you can keep calm under pressure. Obviously, in a series like this that is long and playing under difficult conditions, you are away from home for a long time; emotionally it’s very tough on the individuals”.
KL Rahul has shown the promise to do well in all the three formats of the game. However, he was not able to execute his skills to perfection in the arduous England conditions. Hence, Rahul will like to tick the right boxes on the next tour of Australia.
