Virat Kohli is a flag bearer of Indian cricket: Sourav Ganguly
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly hailed Virat Kohli for his consistent run-scoring ability. Further, he also lauded his leadership skills. Notably, Kohli registered an outstanding 558 runs in the recently concluded One-day International series including three hundred.
Meanwhile, this is the highest-scorer ever in a bilateral ODI series comprised of 5-7 ODIs.
The 29-year-old Kohli registered his 35th ODI ton, second behind Sachin Tendulkar’s 49. as India scripted history in the Rainbow Nation.
Kohli and men became the first Indian team to win a bilateral series in South Africa. Further, they showed outright dominance beating host 5-1.
Ganguly feels Kohli has done well in overseas tours outside the sub-continent and the victories will come soon.
“Kohli has done brilliantly. Overseas Test series wins will come – the only places he has captained India in full series are West Indies and South Africa,” Sourav said to India Today.

Further, Sourav Ganguly added that he has never seen anybody perform so consistently while leading the team.
“I have seen Rahul Dravid captain but I have never seen anyone perform this consistently with the bat as captain as Kohli has,” he added.
Also, Ganguly feels the upcoming tour to England and Australia will define Kohli’s captaincy skills. He also believes Kohli is on his way to greatness. In conclusion, he also added that Kohli is the flag bearer of Indian cricket.
“Kohli is a flag bearer of Indian cricket. I have seen a lot of purple patches including mine, Dravid’s and Sachin Tendulkar’s. I genuinely believe that this is not just a purple patch for Kohli, this is genuine greatness,” Ganguly concluded.
