On Monday (June 25) Sri Lankan opening batsman Kusal Perera hurt himself in an attempt to complete a catch at the long-on boundary during the third Test match against hosts Windies at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
Explosive batter Perera was stretchered off from the field in an ambulance after he crashed into an advertising board, in a bid to take a catch.
In addition, the incident occurred in the 29th over of the Windies innings. After being injured, Kusal was seen clutching his chest and signalling towards the dressing room for an assistance.
Perera is one of the most important members of the Sri Lankan side. He is expected to miss the rest of the game. It will be a huge jolt for Sri Lanka as they hope to claw their way back into the series.

Kusal Perera suffers a freakish injury:
“He was cleared of any serious injury,” the Sri Lankan team manager Asanka Gurusinha was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.
“But we will have to see how he comes up tomorrow morning before making a decision. He is very sore. It was one of the most horrible outfield injuries I have seen in my life. He found it very difficult to get up after the clash with the advertising hoarding. He was vacated from the stadium in an ambulance,” Gurusinha said.
The visitors were 63 runs away to level the three-match Test series one all against Windies.
It was an action-packed third day for both teams as we witnessed the loss of 20 wickets in the day.
The Islanders were asked to chase a target of 144 in order to level the series. They lost the opening match while the second Test was drawn.
The match remained very much in the balance when stumps were removed on the day three. The tourists lost five wickets for just 81 runs in their second essay. In all likelihood, we will witness the winners of this particular game on Tuesday (June 26).
