Dar is now the only cricketer from Kashmir to take part in the IPL. Earlier, Parvez Rasool previously represented various franchise such as Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The name of Manzoor Dar came into the reckoning after he represented Jammu and Kashmir in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
“It will be huge to play alongside him. The others in the game whom I look up to are Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni. I always wanted to hit sixes like Dhoni,” commented Dar according to PTI.
Dar has also undergone his fair share of struggle, as he rose through the ranks while working as a night guard from 2008 to 2012. Dar stated that he would use the funds from IPL to treat his ailing mother.
“I have been building the house back home for the past three years. It still doesn’t have doors and windows, but hopefully, I would be able to get the work done now. I will also use the money for the treatment of my ailing mother,” concluded Dar.
