Lasith Malinga Makes Huge Gain In ICC Rankings
Riding on his sensational five-wicket haul against New Zealand, Sri Lanka star Lasith Malinga has made big gain in the latest ICC Rankings for T20Is. The rankings were released after the conclusion of the three-match series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand on Friday. Malinga starred with the ball as Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by 37 runs to register a consolation win.
The veteran pacer picked up four wickets off as many balls and went on to finish the game with stunning figures of 4-1-6-5. It was his fifth hat-trick overall in international cricket. With the first wicket of his spell, Malinga became the first male bowler to 100 T20I wickets. Riding on the stunning performance, he has jumped 20 places to No.21 on the latest rankings for bowlers.

New Zealand allrounder Colin de Grandhomme jumped a massive 43 places to reach No.80 in the batting rankings. The right-handed batsman finished the series as his team’s top run-scorer with 103 runs. He also broke into the top 20 on the allrounder’s rankings.
Kusal Mendis, who scored one more run than de Grandhomme to lead the series tally, gained 33 points, and is now at the 40th spot. Pakistan star Babar Azam is at the top of the rankings. Two Indians – KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma – feature in the top ten. Rahul is at seventh spot while Rohit is at ninth.

In the bowling charts, left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner jumped six places to climb into the top 10, and is currently at No.5. Tim Southee leaped 14 rungs to seal the 15th spot in the list. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is at the top of the rankings. Kuldeep Yadav is the highest-ranked Indian in the list and is at the seventh spot.
