For the 1st time in 31 years, India were whitewashed in an ODI series with three or more matches on Tuesday. After conceding the series 0-2 in Auckland, India were handed a five-wicket defeat in the final match in Mount Maunganui. Despite the loss, India have major positives in the form of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, who scored brilliantly.
With 103, 52 and 62 — Iyer sealed the No. 4 spot for himself with three quality knocks, doing exactly what the situation in each game demanded. Iyer rotated strike in the middle overs and got the odd boundary, keeping India going despite poor starts.
Iyer got his maiden ODI ton and finished as the highest run-scorer of the series. But he might still be slightly disappointed for not converting one of the two half-centuries into another big knock. He had the opportunity to do so, but couldn’t.
Shreyas Iyer Thanks Fans For Overwhelming Support:

Iyer has now slammed eight fifties and one century in 18 matches and his average reads more than 49 while his strike rate is better than run-a-ball.
Courtesy of his latest fifty, Iyer surpassed former Australia cricketer Ian Chappell’s mark to set a new world record as well.
Iyer holds the record for the best percentage of 50+ scores in ODIs. The right-hander has nine 50-plus scores in 16 innings in the 50-over format and his percentage reads 56.25.
Earlier, the record was held by Chappell, who had eight 50+ scores in 16 innings. All in all, he had a fantastic tour of New Zealand with the bat in both limited-overs formats.
