Madhur Dixit Reveals She Was Madly In Love With This Indian Cricketer

Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Sangeeta Bijlani and Mohammad Azharuddin, Geeta Basra and Harbhajan Singh and most recently Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli – The bond between Bollywood and cricket is very old in India. With the popularity of the cricketers second to none in this cricket-obsessed nation, it seems not only the fans but also the actress are quite obsessed with the Indian players and the several relationship between the cricketers and the Bollywood stars are example of that.

Well, even Madhuri Dixit was smitten by a Indian cricketer who is 18 years senior to her. Yes, one of the best actress the country has seen, Madhuri was not only in love with the player but she was madly in love with him and revealed that she dreamt of the cricketer and wanted to run after him. Recently, an old interview of Madhuri Dixit has resurfaced where she confessed her admiration for the cricketer and he is none other than one of India’s greatest opening batsmen: Sunil Gavaskar.

In 1992, when Madhuri was speaking in an interview with India Today, she said: “I’m mad for Sunil Gavaskar. He is too sexy. I want to run behind him and he even came in my dream. I have seen him playing cricket for India and I like so much.”

Gavaskar was 43-years old when a 25-year old Madhuri confessed her love for the India batting star.

Meanwhile, Gavaskar is one of the greatest players the game has ever seen. The first player to cross the 10,000-run mark in the longest format of the game, Gavaskar broke Don Bradman‘s record of 29 Tests centuries and held the record for the highest number of Test centuries before it was broken by Sachin Tendulkar in 2005. Gavaskar played 122 Tests, scoring 10,122 runs with the help of 34 centuries and 45 half-centuries. In ODIs, he scored 3,092 runs in 108 games.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
