Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis made his last international appearance in July last year and since then has not been a part of the team. Stoinis lost his place in the limited-overs to Marnus Labuschagne, after the later delivered some significant performances in Test cricket. Later, Stoinis also faced the central contract snub but remains determined to make a comeback to the side.

However, after the snub, Matthew Wade has boosted his morale with some advice. Wade has himself been in such situations and knows how to deal with it. Wade had asked Stonis to be the best of himself. Adding that, if he continues to do that everyday, it will be more than enough for him to achieve what he targets.

“I actually had a really good message from ‘Wadey‘ when he found out I didn’t have a contract,” Stoinis told cricket.com.au.

“He’s been in a similar boat throughout his career, and he just said, ‘Be the best cricketer Marcus Stoinis can be and if you do that every day, that’s going to be more than enough to achieve whatever you want to achieve.’

“That’s pretty much the way I see it at the moment.

“The way I see myself as a cricketer is not going to be based on who decides to give me a contract and who doesn’t. I still see myself in a certain way as a cricketer.”
