Massive Blow For Australia Ahead Of The First Test Against India As Steve Smith Misses His Training Session In Adelaide

It seems as if the woes for the Australian Cricket Team don’t seem to come to an end at the moment. In a major turn of events, veteran Australian batsman Steve Smith has reportedly missed the net session at Australia’s main training session prior to the first Test against India in Adelaide. The Australian team is already marred with a lot of injuries as their star opener, David Warner, was ruled out of the first Test match following a groin injury in the ODI series.

Apart from him, Will Pucovski, another talented opener, was ruled out of the first Test following a concussion in the first practice Test match. Cameron Green also suffered a concussion while bowling in the second practice match and Sean Abbott had also complained of tightness in his calf.

Steve Smith Misses Training Session In Adelaide Ahead Of The First Test Match

In a report published on ESPNCricinfo, it was stated, “In a major departure from his usual routine, Steve Smith did not appear for a habitual net at Australia’s main training session prior to the first Test against India in Adelaide.”

“The only sight of Smith for the afternoon was in early warm-ups and fielding, but around 10 minutes into the session he gestured to support staff and headed for the dressing rooms, shaking his left arm as he went,” the report further stated.

Team India’s Campaign Begins On December 17

The India National Cricket Team will begin its Test campaign against Australia from December 17 as the first Test begins with a Day-Night Test match at the Adelaide Oval. The second Test will be a boxing day Test match that commences from December 26.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli will head back home after the first Test match as he has been granted paternal leave by the BCCI., In his absence, Ajinka Rahane will lead the side in the remaining three Test matches.
