The 26th match of the IPL 2022 saw Mumbai Indians (MI) taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and in a tough chase, Tilak Varma found his off-stump being shattered by Jason Holder who bowled a perfect yorker.
The match came across as a must-win for the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians who came into this match having lost all five of their matches until now. Rohit Sharma started well by winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. MI went in with one change, bringing in Fabian Allen in their playing XI, while LSG brought in Manish Pandey for K Gowtham.
Quinton de Kock (24 in 13 balls) added 52 for the first wicket with KL Rahul, who is playing his 100th IPL match. However, he was dismissed by Fabian Allen. Then Manish Pandey joined in and score 38 in 29 balls with 6 fours before M Ashwin bowled him. The third wicket to fall for Lucknow was Marcus Stoinis for 10 runs.
But Deepak Hooda hit some lusty blows in his 15, while KL Rahul reached a sublime century, which came in his 100th IPL game. The Lucknow captain ended up unbeaten on 103 in 60 balls with 5 sixes and 9 fours to his name. LSG finished on 199/4 in 20 overs.
For MI, Jaydev Unadkat picked 2/32, while Ashwin and Allen also picked one wicket apiece.
