No.4 Is Ideal For MS Dhoni To Bat: Mike Hussey

Mike Hussey, Chennai Super Kings batting coach, expressed his excitement ahead of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, adding that he is eager to see how the tournament pans out without crowds and with all the bio-secure protocols that have been set-up in the wake of Covid-19.

The 13th season of the cash-rich league is all set to kickstart in the United Arab Emirates [UAE] from September 19. Hussey will be joining the one-week training camp that CSK is about to conduct at the Chepauk before flying to the UAE.

“Very excited about the tournament going ahead and interested to see how it will all go with no crowds and staying in a strict bio secure bubble,” Mike Hussey told ‘The New Indian Express’

With the conditions in the UAE pretty similar to Chennai, there is a general consensus that the shift in venue might favor CSK. But batting coach Mike Hussey reckoned that it wouldn’t be all that hunky-dory and the players will have to adapt to the conditions.

”Not really that easy as everybody thinks. Every player will have to go there and adapt to the conditions,” he added.

Mike Hussey on what is the ideal position for MS Dhoni to bat

With the likes of Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, and of-course skipper MS Dhoni in their ranks, Hussey asserted that batting is CSK’s strength while also adding that the team has all the skillsets covered.

“Yes, of course, batting is our strength, but I feel we have a well-balanced team that covers all the skill sets well,” Hussey added.

MS Dhoni will be making a comeback to competitive cricket after a 14-month hiatus and the former Indian captain will be hoping to emulate his 2019 IPL exploits in the Emirates. Dhoni was absolutely sensational in the last IPL, where he played some breathtaking innings while batting at the No.4 slot.

And, Hussey too feels that the No.4 slot is ideal for MS Dhoni to bat in the upcoming IPL.

”No 4 is ideal for Dhoni to bat, but everyone in the middle-order will need to adapt as per the situation,” Hussey added.
