India captain Virat Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma got the backing of Minister of State for Home Affair over the viral video on Instagram.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has defended Team India skipper, Virat Kohli after he posted a video on his Instagram handle where his celebrity wife, Anushka Sharma can be seen scolding a man for littering the road.

Anushka spotted a chauffeur-driven Sedan where a boy threw some garbage on the road. She stopped and said the young man to use a dustbin.

“Why are you throwing garbage on the road, you cannot just throw plastic on the streets just like that,” Anushka can be heard saying. Kohli shared the video and captioned it,

“Saw these people throwing garbage on the road and pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains went for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right!!! If you see something wrong happening like this, do the same and spread awareness.”

He further slammed all of them who trolled him for the same.

“Lot of people who don’t have the courage to do something like this find it funny. Everything for people nowadays is meme content. Shame,” Virat said.

Many celebrities have come in support of Virat and Minister of State for Home Affairs also gave his opinion on the matter.

“C’mon, Virat & Anushka need publicity!! They would rather crave privacy!! Our conduct reflects our mentality. Civic sense is social ethics, and ethical behaviour doesn’t come with wealth & education. Let’s keep India clean. #SwachhBharat,” he wrote on his twitter handle on Monday.

Meanwhile, the man at the receiving end was identified as Arhaan Singh.

He and his mother hit back at the power couple and called it a cheap publicity stunt. Meanwhile, Kohli will be back to international cricket with the T20I series against the Irish.

The two-match series will be followed by the full-length series against England. It will be a big series for Kohli and India.

Kohli had a horrible time in England in 2014

The skipper had a horrific time in England the last time India toured. He only made 134 runs in the series at a below-par average of 13.40. He will surely look to make amends this time around and help India win the series.
