Mitchell Johnson Returns With Remarkable Figures in Australia's Indoor Cricket

Few days after announcing his retirement from the Big Bash League, former Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has claimed a seven-wicket haul in the indoor cricket.

Meanwhile, featuring for an indoor cricket team called ‘The MBC’ in Perth, Johnson returned with impressive figures of seven for 35 in two overs.

Moreover, his team clashed with ‘Bowling Darts’ in favourite Monday night setting last week.

For the uninitiated, the rules of indoor cricket – a team loses five runs for each wicket that falls. Hence the negative runs in Johnson’s run column.

However, it is a highly popular format of the game in Australia which enjoys attraction, especially with youngsters.

Speedster Johnson also got a wicket out of stumping. He didn’t achieve in his entire cricketing career. However, Johnosn’s “The MBC” ended up losing to ‘Bowling Darts’ by 51-100.

Johnson, 36, announced last month that he would not return for BBL franchise Perth Scorchers for this summer’s BBL season. He will, however, play in the T10 League in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The left-arm seamer has represented Australia across all the formats. He has played 73 Tests, 153 One-day Internationals and 30 Twenty20 Internationals matches during 10-years international career.

Johnson has bagged 313, 239, and 38 wickets in Test, ODIs and T20Is respectively.

Johnson rose to fame during 2013-14, when in consecutive series he cowed the batsmen of England and South Africa with his speed and aggression. In those eight Tests, he picked 59 wickets at 15.23.

Furthermore, before featuring in indoor cricket in Australia, Mitchell Johnson became the fourth Australian bowler to pick 300 Test wickets.

The fast bowler won the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2009 and 2014. Also, he won the Allan Border Medal – 2014 and the ICC Test Player of the Year 2014.
