Fast bowler Mitchell Starc has joined Australia’s injury list which includes star opener David Warner, who has been ruled out of the remainder of limited-overs fixtures against India.
Starc, who struggled with his line and length in the opening two games, was not included in the playing 11 for the dead-rubber at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
Skipper Aaron Finch revealed at the toss that Mitchell Starc is nursing a back and rib niggle while announcing three changes in the playing 11.
“Starcy has got a little bit of a back and a rib niggle. The medical staff thinks he will benefit from a few days off,” Finch said at the toss,” Aaron Finch said.
Sean Abbott, who was slotted in the playing 11 in place of Mitchell Starc, had a forgettable outing as he was taken to the cleaners by the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya in the slog overs.
Australia failed to complete a clean-sweep in the ODI series thanks to a brilliant 150-run-stand for the 6th wicket by the duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya backed up by an inspired bowling performance-led by Shardul Thakur.
India and Australia will now lock horns in a three-match T20I series which starts in Canberra on December 04.
