Mohammad Azharuddin Stand To Be Inaugurated Ahead Of 1st T20I In Hyderabad

Yet another legendary cricketer of the Indian Cricket is set to have a stand to his name in his state. Recently, MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir were honoured for their contribution to the game. Now, the former skipper Mohammad Azharuddin will have a stand to his name at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, which will be inaugurated ahead of the first T20I game on December 6 (Friday) between India and West Indies.

It will be a day to cherish for so many reasons for Mohammad Azharuddin. Not only will this be the first game under his administration, but the North Stand will also be named after him before the game starts. The stand above the V.V.S. Laxman pavilion will be named after the former skipper.

We will start the day by inaugurating Mohammad Azharuddin stand:

The stand will most likely be inaugurated by the former Indian opening batsman Sunil Gavaskar. Besides the inauguration, the Hyderabad Cricket Association will also have a ceremony to felicitate players of Hyderabad, who brought laurels to Indian Cricket. All the players, who represented India from Hyderabad have been invited for the event.

“We will start the day by inaugurating the Mohammad Azharuddin stand which is now basically the North Stand. This will be the one above the V.V.S. Laxman players pavilion. Gavaskar could be the one who will be inaugurating the new stand in the name of one of India’s most successful captains,” the official revealed as per PTI.

“We will have a small ceremony before the game wherein along with the inauguration of the new stand, we will also felicitate players from Hyderabad who have donned the national cap and brought laurels to the country,” he said.

It will also be the first-ever T20I game to be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Earlier, it hosted ODI and Test matches but never hosted any T20I match. However, they have enough experience to prepare T20 pitches, as it is the den for Sunrisers Hyderabad over the years. They even hosted IPL 2019 final between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

Coming to the series, the Indian National Cricket Team are on a winning spree and will hope to keep up the excellent job. On the other hand, the Kieron Pollard-led side has also got the quality players to have the spectators on the edge of their seats throughout the game.
