Pakistan cricket team all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been given a clean chit by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after his action was reported following a T20 Blast game last summer.

The senior cricketer was plying his trade for Middlesex and during a game against Somerset at Taunton last August, his action was reported to umpires.

An independent assessment was later carried out at Loughborough University, that found that Hafeez’s elbow extension exceeded the permitted limit of fifteen degrees, after which he was subsequently banned from bowling in English domestic competitions.

He has though, been cleared, to bowl now, after another independent assessment was carried out, which resulted in the 39-year-old’s favour.

Mohammad Hafeez cleared to bowl in England; his action given a clean chit:

The Pakistani player turned out for Middlesex four time last year, taking two wickets and scoring 115 runs before his action was reported and he was subsequently banned from bowling in all English competitions.

Hafeez was, however, eligible to play in the other leagues, and he featured in the Carribean Premier League (CPL), Pakistan’s domestic T20 league, and Qatar’s T10 league as well.

However, the England and Wales Cricket Board, (ECB) has now received a new report from the re-test of Hafeez’s action, which was carried out at the ICC Accredited Testing Centre in Lahore.

They found that the player’s action did not exceed the threshold limit and he will now be able to participate in leagues across English county. But all-rounder does not have a contract with any team as of yet.
