Mohammad Kaif Calls For Everyone To Take Collective Responsibility To Make IPL 2020 A Success

Mohammad Kaif, former Indian cricketer and the assistant coach of Delhi Capitals, is pretty excited for the upcoming season o the IPL. Kaif is one of the many Indian fans who are waiting for the cash-rich to kickstart as it would also end the six-month hiatus of not watching their favorite cricketers display their outrageous skills.
The 13th edition of the IPL will take place in the United Arab Emirates between September 19-November 10. The tournament will be played behind closed doors and everyone from players to the support-staff will undergo multiple tests and will be placed under strict bio-security protocols.
“Oh, yes, there is a lot of excitement,” Kaif said during a telephonic conversation with IANS,
With players not having played competitive cricket in the past six months, Mohammad Kaif reckoned that their performances will be affected in the initial staged but he also added that a few practice game before the tournament could prove to be real handy.
“These are the tough, challenging times for the players as there are a lot of guidelines that need to be followed. There would be many tests of the players and supporting staff for almost two-three times a week. But I still am very happy that the IPL is finally happening and the fans will get to watch it once again,” Mohammad Kaif said.
“These are not normal circumstances. Players’ bodies have not been in use for the last 4-5 months and this will result in their performances on the field. Some practice matches would also be organised to overcome that, and yes, a difference could be still seen on the field,” said Kaif.
“However, I would also like to add that the players have that calibre to adjust in every circumstance. That is the quality of a sportsperson. Everybody is quarantined right now. Nobody leaves his room. We still have time for IPL to start. “I think if we want to make this IPL a success, we will have to take collective responsibility to not ignore the guidelines given to us. From day one to the last day of the tournament, which is November 10, we have to be more responsible,” Kaif added.

With strict bio-secure measures in place, Kaif said that everyone will have to contribute collectively by ensuring that they are not breached if they want to make the latest edition of the tournament a roaring success.
“I think if we want to make this IPL a success, we will have to take collective responsibility to not ignore the guidelines given to us. From day one to the last day of the tournament, which is November 10, we have to be more responsible,” Kaif added.
Kaif is also excited about his side [Delhi Capitals] prospects in the upcoming season. The former Indian cricketer exuded confidence in the Capitals’ team combination and he is hopeful that the players will acclimatize to the conditions and hit the ground up and running.
”We are very excited about this season and our team has improved a lot from the last season. We have a complete squad and have picked some experienced players in (Ravichandran) Ashwin, (Ajinkya) Rahane, Alex Carey and (Shimron) Hetmyer. We already had (Kagiso) Rabada and Ishant (Sharma); now we have Anrich Nortje as well. The new players make this side very balanced this year. We played well last year also, and that confidence will help the players this season,” Kaif added.
