Mohammad Yousuf Breaks Silence On Danish Kaneria Row

Pakistan is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after Shoaib Akhtar sensationally revealed that his former teammate Danish Kaneria was mistreated by other players due to his religion. Akhtar alleged that the players were not even ready to eat from the same table with Danish Kaneria and the latter never got credits for his fine performances.

After Akhtar’s allegations, Danish Kaneria also stated the same and threatened to expose the players who mistreated him because of his religion. Not only that, the ex-leg-spinner also asked for help from Prime Minister Imran Khan. Since then, a number of players from Pakistan have spoken on the matter including former captains Inzamam-ul-Haq and Javed Miandad.

And unsurprisingly, both the ex-cricketers rubbished the claims by Akhtar and Kaneria. While Inzamam said he never saw Kaneria being mistreated by anyone, Miandad said that the ex-spinner could say anything for money. And the latest ex-Pakistan cricketer to speak on the issue is none other than Mohammad Yousuf who embraced Islam after starting his Pakistan career as a Christian named Yousuf Yohana.

Mohammad Yousuf took to Twitter to speak on the matter and condemned the comments from his former teammates Kaneria and Akhtar. He said that he was always loved by his teammates and had their support, writing:

“I condemn the comments made about discrimination regarding players from the minority in the Pakistan Team. I have been a member of the team & I’ve always had a lot of love & support from the team, the management & the fans! Pakistan Zindabad.”

Mohammad Yousuf retired from the game as one of Pakistan’s great batsmen. He played 88 Tests, nine as captain and scored 7,431 runs at an average of 53.07, including 24 centuries. He also scored 9,624 runs in 282 one-day internationals.
