The last time India went to Australia for the Test series, Mohammed Shami played an integral role in the team’s historic triumph. He was the second highest wicket-taker in the series behind joint top wicket-takers Nathan Lyon and Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Shami had picked up 16 wickets, helping India earn their first-ever Test series win on the Australian soil.

The right-arm pacer would be eyeing a similar performance in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series. Things, however, will be a bit different this time around. Unlike the last Test series between the two teams, Australia will have the services of David Warner and Steve Smith.

The upcoming tests will be definitely tougher for the India bowlers but Mohammed Shami is not too worried about it. The Bengal star is not at all intimidated by the presence of Smith and Warner. Mohammed Shami believes that if the Indian bowlers back themselves and bowl good deliveries, they can dismiss any world-class batsman.

“India have quality batsmen and we bowl at them in the nets. We don’t look at names, we focus on our skills. You can be a world-class batsman, but one good ball will still get you out. Our fast bowling group can bowl at 140 kph plus and you need that kind of pace in Australia. Even our reserves are quick, you don’t get to see that kind of an attack,” Mohammed Shami told BCCI.TV.

The pacer is in good form. He had a stunning IPL with the ball where he picked up 20 wickets for Kings XI Punjab and once again impressed with his pace and bounce. India are scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in Australia before the Test series.
