Mohammed Shami Opens Up On Why He Prefers Test Cricket Over Any Other Format

India’s ace pacer, Mohammed Shami has revealed that Test cricket is his preferred format across all the international formats and he prefers it because of its intensity. Shami joined former cricketer Irfan Pathan on an Instagram live session where both discussed a range of topics.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on global cricket as well. The entire cricketing action has also come to a standstill after the rapid spread of the virus. However, this has given the cricketers some time to spend with their families and fans using social media engagement. Shami also opened up on his Instagram live with Irfan Pathan and spoke on a wide variety of topics.

Mohammed Shami Reveals Test Cricket As His Favourite Format

When Irfan asked Shami to choose one format, the speedster picked T20I as the entertaining format while he termed the longest format of the game as his favourite format.

“For entertainment purpose, I would like to choose T20I but I would like to play Test cricket for the intensity of the game,” he said.

Mohammed Shami has been one of India’s most improved fast bowlers in recent times. The pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ishant Sharma has helped India win a lot of Test matches lately. They have become one of the most fierce pace bowling units in world cricket and are one of the key reasons behind India’s rise in Test cricket over the last couple of years.

Recently, the IPL 2020 was postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Now, with the government’s decision to extend the nationwide lockdown, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been called off indefinitely.

To the disappointment of the cricket fans, the India-South Africa ODI series has also been called off. Apart from it, the Road Safety World Series has also been suspended.

Earlier this month, the ECB had decided to postpone the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to the coronavirus pandemic. The series was to be a part of the World Test Championship (WTC).

All the English players playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been called back immediately, and the tournament has been postponed.
