Team India speedster Mohammad Shami is all set to replace his Indian teammate Hardik Pandya in the ICC World XI squad. They are all set to take on the No 1 ranked side in T20I’s Windies in the one-off T20I. The news was confirmed on Monday. Shaami has been an integral part of the Indian Test team. However, when it comes to limited overs fixtures, he has been in and out of the side. The presence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bunmrah has made life very difficult for pacers like Shami and Umesh Yadav.
His last T20I appearance was a year ago against the same opponents. However, he was playing for the national team back then. Pandya had to be replaced after he picked up a viral illness. Meanwhile English leg-spinner Adil Rashid has also been included in the squad. The only other Indian player apart from Shami will be India’s new limited-overs hero Dinesh Karthik.
Ever since his match-winning innings in the Nidahas Trophy final, Karthik has grown in confidence. He left the Kolkata Knight Riders quite admirably in the just-concluded Indian Premier League. Captaining a pretty young side, Karthik’s efforts took his franchise to the playoffs. They won the eliminator clash against the Rajasthan Royals. However, they were knocked out of the tournament after losing to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 2.

The team will be captained by English limited overs skipper Eoin Morgan. Some of the other veteran cricketers include the likes of former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, Luke Ronchi of New Zealand, Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh, Mitchell McClenaghan of New Zealand. It will also include leg-spinning sensational in the form of Sandeep Lamichhane and Rashid Khan.
Both players have impressed in the Indian Premier League. Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik will also be a part of the squad. Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera is also a part of the squad.
Here is the full squad
