How Mohammed Shami Rescued Migrant Worker Who Fainted In Hunger

Mohammed Shami has a heart-of-gold. In an adverse situation, when the country is battling against the novel coronavirus pandemic, Mohammed Shami proved himself to be a role-model the country needs. In an interaction with his national teammate Yuzvendra Chahal, the fast bowler narrated a story of empathy, love and equal regard towards his countrymen.

Since the lockdown has been announced to withstand the novel coronavirus pandemic, a lot of daily wage workers are startled. With no way to commute, they are travelling back home, on their footsteps. It is as difficult as it sounds as many daily-wage workers have reportedly lost their lives on their way back home.

Travelling miles without proper food or necessary supplies has been difficult for the daily-wage workers amid the novel coronavirus scare. In an incident near his house, Mohammed Shami said, he rescued a daily wage worker who fainted near to his house in hunger. Shami, went up to him, and provided him with necessary food and water.

“He was coming from Rajasthan. Just imagine he is supposed to go to Bihar which is so far from Lucknow too. He has no means to commute and I saw in my home CCTV camera that he fainted in hunger and was close to my door. So I provided him with food and helped him out,” the 29-year-old cricketer said.

Shami also pledged to help the needy as much as he can during the crisis situation. He said the migrant workers are really struggling to meet ends. However, as the highway is near his house, he can look at the situation and help the migrant workers in need.

“I am trying to help as much as I can. There are migrant workers here who are really struggling to meet ends. The highway is also near my house so I can see people having a tough time. I feel I should help and I am doing as much as possible,” he added.

The cricket board, several national team players, ex-cricketers, first-class cricket playing teams have come forward in this crisis situation. They have donated funds and continue to spread awareness about the novel coronavirus pandemic through their social media accounts.
