Former South Africa speedster Morne Morkel has picked up his All-Time XI. Morkel had to pick individuals he played alongside or against during his stellar career. Not very surprisingly, Morkel’s star-studded side was filled with his compatriots. The fast-bowler, who is currently plying his trade for Surrey after signing a Kalpak deal last year, picked as many as six South Africans in his team. Two Australian and one each from India, England and New Zealand made it to the list.

Morne Morkel picked his former skipper Graeme Smith as the opener of the team along with Australia’s David Warner. The pacer also named Smith as the captain of the side. Smith is one of the most decorated captains in the history of Test cricket. He led the Proteas to the pinnacle of Test cricket during his illustrious career.

At number three, Morne Morkel went for Hashim Amla who will go down as one of the finest batsmen to have played for South Africa. Amla’s role in making South Africa the most dominating side during the second half of last decade is immense. He scored runs across the world, helping South Africa win games all around the globe.

At number four, Morkel picked the legendary Jacques Kallis, arguably the greatest allrounder to have played the game. The sole Indian in the team – Virat Kohli – will come at number five. Kohli is arguably the best batsman in the world right now and is ranked number one in both Tests and ODIs. At number six, Morkel picked former England skipper Kevin Pietersen. Former South Africa skipper and another all-time great AB de Villiers was picked by Morkel as the number seven batsman in the side.
