Test cricket is often referred to as the toughest format of the game. It requires immense patience and concentration as a player to succeed in the format at the international level. Test cricket has resumed again after the end of IPL 2022 with England and New Zealand taking on each other. Sri Lanka also played against Bangladesh recently with Angelo Mathews performing in the series.

The batsmen score most of their runs through boundaries in the format. They also score through singles and doubles but hardly hit sixes. There have been cricketers who have taken the more traditional approach of playing Test cricket.

Meanwhile, there also have been players like Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag and Brendon McCullum who fancied hitting sixes in Test cricket as well. In this article, we take a look at six active Test cricketers with the most sixes to their name.

6) Ravindra Jadeja -55 Sixes

The Indian all-rounder ranks sixth in this list with 55 maximums to his name. He is one of the most reputed all-rounders in all formats. The southpaw is always within the top five rankings in the all-rounder’s list. He is currently recovering from an injury that he succumbed in the IPL.

5) David Warner -61 Sixes

The stylish Australian left-hander is fifth on this list with 61 sixes in his career so far. Warner has adjusted beautifully to Test cricket after starting out as a one-dimensional cricketer. He is also among the highest run-getters across formats in the modern game.

4) Rohit Sharma -64 Sixes

Since opening the batting in Test cricket, Rohit Sharma has found a new life and a new dimension to his game. Once considered a white-ball specialist, Rohit opens the batting for India in Test cricket these days and is also India’s Test skipper. In the WTC 2019-21 season, Rohit scored over 1200 runs for India.

3) Angelo Mathews -74 Sixes

Former Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews sits third on this list with 74 maximums in the format. He is currently the top scorer for Sri Lanka in Test cricket and is fresh off a 199 against Bangladesh in the recently concluded Test series.

2) Tim Southee- 75 Sixes

Interestingly, Tim Southee held the record for most sixes in the format with 75 big hits to his credit. Recently it was Ben Stokes who overtook his tally. Both Stokes and Southee are a part of the ongoing Test match at Lord’s and The Kiwi pacer dismissed the England Test skipper in the first innings.

1) Ben Stokes- 90 Sixes

Ben Stokes leads the tally with 90 sixes to his credit. He is the newly-announced full-time England test captain and the series against New Zealand is his first assignment as a full-time skipper. He was dismissed for just one in the first innings. England needs a score from Stokes chasing 277 to win in the second innings.
