Buzz About MS Dhoni's Batting Position Putting Pressure on CSK, Says Brett Lee

Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni boasts of a stupendous fan base not only in India but all over the world. Therefore, his return to cricket in this year’s Indian Premier League was something the fans were eagerly waiting for.
The 39-year-old took a break from the sport after India’s semi-final defeat to New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup and had been absent ever since. However, he was expected to return in the Chennai Super Kings colors in the IPL in March but the tournament was postponed to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Much to the disbelief of the cricketing world, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket in the month of August. As a result, his return to the IPL had gained more weight among the fans.

But unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan for the Chennai Super Kings and their fans. With two defeats in three games, MS Dhoni has been hugely criticized for batting lower down the order. According to former Aussie cricketer, Brett Lee, the buzz about Dhoni’s batting position is affecting the performance of the entire CSK team.

“They have to start winning, they’ve got the right team but don’t think they’ve got the right position (for the players). I think the talk on Dhoni’s batting position is putting a lot of pressure on the entire team,” Brett Lee said while speaking in the post-match show on Star Sports.
“He has to fix his batting position,” added the former right-arm speedster.

Chennai Super Kings will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday in their next game. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Dhoni reacts to the comments passed about him.
