Indian cricketers have been benefited with the presence of seniors and legendary figures in the team. MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are two ‘role models’ whom youngsters not only in the dressing room but also look up to and learn from them. Premier India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is also one of them.
MS Dhoni is known to tackle every situation with a calm head. He has hardly lost his cool despite leading the national team to victories in mega ICC events. Kohli, on the other hand, has a highly competitive spirit and hardly gives an inch. Hardik Pandya has seen them closely and picked up specific aspects from them.
Mahi bhai’s calmness, Virat’s hunger are the qualities I want to combine: Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya said he never had one specific role-model. He learnt different things from different people. Explaining the same, he mentioned that he learnt to be calm from MS Dhoni while picked up the ‘hunger’ to win from Virat Kohli.
“I never had one specific role model. I always wanted to learn from the best, different things from different people, and I wanted to combine that in my game – Mahi bhai’s calmness, Virat’s hunger. From 2015, when I made it to the IPL, I always wanted to learn from people. That’s when I realised that Polly is someone who relates to my game,” Hardik Pandya told Cricbuzz.
Pandya has contributed to the national team from the fore with his all-round performances. He has been a specialist in limited-overs and also impressed in Tests.
