Indian team is currently going through a purple patch, as they have been ruthless under the leadership of their new skipper, Virat Kohli. After hammering Sri Lanka 9-0 in their own backyard, Men in Blue went on to beat the current World Champions 4-1.

The biggest plus Virat Kohli has which was lacking during the Dhoni era is the all-around ability which Hardik Pandya brings to the team. The Baroda-born is touted to be the next big thing in Indian cricket but a former legendary cricketer don’t think so.

Karsan Ghavri, former left-arm fast medium bowler feels that even now, with all the criticism that is spreading around regarding MS Dhoni’s finishing abilities, he is still the best finisher in Indian cricket.

“There is no competition when it comes to Dhoni’s finishing ability. He is 1,000 times better finisher than Pandya. Even today, Dhoni can change the game in a matter of four or five overs only.” said the former cricketer.

Former India bowler said he thinks that the comparison between former India captain and Hardik Pandya is not right, though Hardik has a bright future ahead, but he still needs to go a long way to reach where Dhoni is.

“Please do not compare Dhoni with Hardik Pandya. It is true Pandya has a bright future ahead of him, but he is just climbing the ladder of India cricket, and Dhoni has proved it for so many years,” Ghavri said further.

Hardik has so far played only 48 international games, whereas MS Dhoni has won every major ICC tournament and is closing in on completing 16,000 international runs.

The next assignment for Virat Kohli-led team is the three-match T20I series, starting Saturday (7th October) in Ranchi’s JSCA stadium. If team India manages a clean sweep in this series they will jump to the second position in ICC’s T20I rankings.
