India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman, Ishan Kishan, remarked that former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been the most influential wicketkeeper for him so far. Dhoni’s stature in the Indian team can be acknowledged from the fact that since MS Dhoni’s departure from the Indian team, the team has failed to find an effective replacement.

Dhoni has been the most successful wicketkeeper for India so far. He has also been among one of the most successful wicketkeepers in world cricket. Although he has always been termed as an unorthodox wicketkeeper, Dhoni has been an inspirational figure for the youngsters in the country.

Now, Ishan Kishan has also revealed that MS Dhoni has been the most influential wicketkeeper for him during his career so far.

Ishan Kishan Heaps Praise On MS Dhoni

Kishan had previously admitted that former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist and Dhoni were his heroes growing up. However, when asked to pick between the two, Ishan revealed Dhoni has inspired him the most as a player and often shares insights with him about improving his game.

“Always MS Dhoni because the way he carries himself. He always suggests me what better can I do in my keeping drills. In the season where I scored 800 runs, I had a word with him about my batting, I told him I was getting starts but I was not able to convert them,” Ishan said on Spicy Pitch when asked about Gilchrist and Dhoni.

“He told me you are an attacking batsman but when you are playing a day game, you need to know when to put a pause and then start again. These are small things which change your batting and helps you improve. I have learnt these things from MS Dhoni,” he added.
