MS Dhoni could not live up to the expectations in the recently-concluded edition of IPL, especially with the bat as he looked a pale shadow of his former self. The Chennai Super Kings failed to make the playoffs for the first time, ending their season with six victories out of 14 and sixth position in the points table. Nevertheless, it is fascinating to know what the former Indian skipper is up to after the IPL.

MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in August, has interests that extend beyond cricket and helicopter shots. Organic farming is arguably one of them and is all set to farm the famous black Kadaknath chickens at his organic poultry unit at Ranchi, his hometown. Dhoni had already ordered 2000 chicks from tribal farmer Vinod, a resident of a village in Thandla block of Jhabua district in Madhya Pradesh, the state from where the Kadaknath breed originates.

Director IS Tomar confirmed the news by stating that the 39-year old had initially contacted him through his friends. However, since he was not in the position to deliver, he referred the Super Kings captain to a Thandla farmer. The Kadaknath chicken is usually recognized for its delicious taste and it’s fat and cholesterol-free.

Vinod revealed that it was three months ago that Dhoni’s farm managers got in touch with him, placing an order for 2000 chicks, slated to deliver by December 15th to Ranchi. The payment for the same has also been carried out as confirmed and he feels proud to serve one of the most popular cricketers in the world.

Three months ago, Dhoni’s farm managers got in touch with me through the Krishi Vikas Kendra and MP Kadaknath mobile phone app. Later, I got the order for 2000 chicks, which I’ve to deliver in Ranchi by December 15. The advance payment for the 2,000 chicks has already been credited in my account by the team managing Dhoni’s farm. I’m proud to be supplying Kadaknath chicks to the farm of one of the most famous cricketers of the country,” Vinod told Indian Express Daily.
