Ambati Rayudu is one of the very few players who have played for both Mumbai Indians as well as Chennai Super Kings – two of the most successful teams in the history of IPL. The veteran batsman started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2010.
The right-handed batsman hit the ground running in IPL and became an indispensable part of Mumbai Indians. He stayed with the Mumbai-based franchise for eight years, helping the team win three IPL titles during his stint. Before the 2018 season, Mumbai Indians decided to let him go and Chennai Super Kings signed him up in the auction.
Ambati Rayudu made an instant impression by helping Chennai Super Kings win the title for the first time since 2011. The 2018 season was his most prolific one in the IPL as he scored a staggering 602 runs. His previous best tally in a season was when he scored 395 in 2011.
And he recently opened up on the difference in the set-up of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Ambati Rayudu did not mince his words, saying that there were lots of differences and he feels more comfortable at Super Kings. He added that Super Kings will be his favourite team even after he retires from cricket. Ambati Rayudu admitted that he got more batting chances at CSK that he got at Mumbai Indians.
“At CSK it’s pretty calm, they have lot more faith in players ability, while MI is more ‘play-your-role’ kind of a set up,” Ambati Rayudu said during a live session on Chennai Super Kings’ Instagram profile.
Rayudu also lavished praise on Super Kings’ fan base, saying: “CSK fans are emotional like how south Indians are, they have knowledge. Even when playing for India we don’t see such fan base.”
