MS Dhoni hasn’t failed to impress former and current cricketers around the globe. Having remained out of competitive cricket and Indian team for nearly a year now, it is fair to say that the men in blue struggled to find his replacement. His brains behind the stumps were massive assistance to Virat Kohli. Bangladesh’s veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim is the latest to come forward and admire MS Dhoni for his captaincy skills.

As far as Mushfiqur is concerned, he believes that MS Dhoni must be in the league of all-time greatest captains. Not only did the Bangladesh keeper-batsman lauded the 38-year old’s ability to anticipate the opposition’s moves but also hailed his record. The Jharkhand cricketer gave up the Test captaincy in 2014 while in 2016, he surrendered the limited-overs duties. Virat Kohli leads the Indian side across formats presently.

I’m fond of Dhoni’s captaincy. I believe his name should be there amongst the all-time greatest captains. He has an excellent sixth sense and can effectively make predictions about what’s in store. His cricketing sense is also outstanding. As a captain, Dhoni has a great win percentage as well,” the 33-year-old said as quoted by Business Standard.

The 33-year old conceded that he didn’t have anyone to look up to before witnessing MS Dhoni at the international level. Hence, Rahim stated that Dhoni is his current idol and that captains around the globe look up to the 350-ODI veteran for inspiration.

“There’s no major tournament that he hasn’t won. He is a skipper I like very much. Earlier I said that I didn’t have an idol. But now you can call Dhoni as my idol. Captains around the world can look up to him for inspiration,” Rahim added.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s captaincy folklore includes leading Bangladesh in 34 Tests, 37 ODIs, and 23 T20Is. Nevertheless, he lost his leadership position after the national team toured South Africa in 2017.

Earlier this year, the keeper-batsman captained Khulna Tigers to the final of the Bangladesh Premier League where Rajshahi Royals beat them. Rahim is one of the most experienced Bangladesh cricketers.
