Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad made a tumultuous start to his IPL 2020 season after contracting with Covid-19. He however ensured to make a name for himself with his brilliant batting as an opener towards the fag end of the tournament. As a result, Gaikwad sealed his spot as an opener for the side.

The Maharashtra batsman started his journey with CSK while batting at No.4. It did not quite work out for him and he was dropped from the next few matches before being asked to open for the side. In a recent interview, Gaikwad recalled his time during the Covid-19 situation, and how he faced it.

Ruturaj Gaikwad recalls advice from MS Dhoni during Covid-19 situation

Gaikwad said that he has lost track of the number of shows that he watched on Netflix during his Covid-19 situation. He also added that Narcos is his favourite show and he might have watched it three times. Besides that, he recalled, MS Dhoni advising him to face the Covid-19 situation with a smile.

“I have lost track of the number of shows I have watched on Netflix. Narcos is my favourite. I think I might have watched it at least 3 times,” Ruturaj Gaikwad told The Indian Express.

“Face it with a smile, it will be over in 14 days”, the Super Kings captain told the batsman.

“I was really excited to get the call-up. But I was still tentative and not 100% physically and mentally,” Ruturaj said on the early days in the playing XI.

Dhoni was also mighty pleased with Gaikwad’s performance during the fag end of the tournament. He mentioned that Gaikwad is a player who doesn’t speaks much which made it difficult for him to judge his prospect.
