Australian talisman spinner Nathan Lyon is one of the finest off-spinners of the game. Not only Lyon has savoured success while playing in the sub-continent conditions – which is generally the forte for the spinners – but also he has got success while playing on the non-friendly spin pitches. Thus, Nathan Lyon has done a fabulous job for the Australian team.

On the other hand, Nathan Lyon generally relies on topspin to get most of his dismissals. He can extract good bounce from the surface and he can be lethal in any kind of conditions. Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon also revealed the batsman whom he found the toughest to bowl to. Nathan Lyon stated that former South African captain AB de Villiers was the most difficult batsman he has bowled to in his career.

AB de Villiers was a nightmare for the bowlers.

“It’s an interesting one when you’re up against that challenge, but I’ve always said I want to challenge myself against the best players in the world,” Lyon told The BackPage Live. “AB is still one of those guys.”

In fact, AB de Villiers is a nightmare for all the bowlers. de Villiers is unpredictable as a batsman and can move across to hit the bowlers all around the park. Consequently, he was sobriquet as a 360-degree batsman.

“He is probably the hardest batter I’ve ever bowled to, and I’ve played against AB quite a few times now on different tours,” he said. “He’s probably the one guy who I’ve thought: ‘He can probably hit me anywhere he wants at any time.”

Furthermore, AB de Villiers had a compact technique and didn’t have many loopholes in his game. The world-wide bowlers must have breathed a sigh of relief when he hanged his boots in May 2018. Lyon recalled when AB smashed Mitchell Johnson even when the latter was at the peak of his career.

“There have been a couple of tours when Mitchell Johnson’s been bowling like the wind after a pretty amazing Ashes series here at home, and AB was pulling Mitch in front of square-leg and just back-footing drives and showing all the shots,” he said.

AB de Villiers was one of the best modern-day batsmen in the game. The talisman right-hander had all the shots in his book and he was the most fearsome batsman of all time. The linchpin batsman had recently played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
