India have found a young pace bowler in Navdeep Saini as a death-over specialist. Saini has been the go-to option for captain Kohli in the final overs of a game and his performance has improved game by game. On Saturday, the world witnessed a different side of Saini when the young pacer tore apart New Zealand’s pacers in the second ODI of the three-match series.

However, his valiant efforts were just not enough for India to cross the line and the Men in Blue lost the game and the ODI series 2-0. This is India’s first bilateral series defeat after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

India were dominant in the T20I series and clean swept the Kiwis 5-0. They became the first-ever team to win a bilateral T20I series 5-0.

The Kiwis bounced back in the ODI series and won the first two games comprehensively.  Saini has now revealed who he believes was the difficult guy to bowl to during the series.

“I think Martin Guptill is an aggressive player and is a challenge for me,” Saini said as quoted by DNA.

Guptill played a handsome knock of 79 runs against India in the second ODI.

India faced a humiliating loss by the hands of the Kiwis in the second ODI at Auckland on Saturday.

Having won the toss, the Men in Blue invited the hosts to bat first. New Zealand put up 273 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets. Guptill and Ross Taylor scored half-centuries and helped the Kiwis reach a challenging total.

Chasing the target, the Indian batting failed miserably. It was for the contributions from the lower order batsmen that helped India reach this close to the target.

Saini played a gritty knock of 45 runs and kept alive India’s hopes of coming back in the series. India will now play for pride in the final game of the series on 11th February at Mount Maunganui.
