Sourav Ganguly led BCCI set to name new members
A new advisory committee has been formed, comprising former cricketers- Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Nair. Ajit Agarkar (Mumbai), Chetan Sharma (Haryana), Nayan Mongia (Baroda), Laxman Sivaramakrishnan (Tamil Nadu), Rajesh Chauhan (Madhya Pradesh), Amey Khurasiya (Madhya Pradesh) are some of the notable names that have applied for the top job.

“The new CAC has been constituted and the new selectors should be picked by this month,” Ganguly said.
As per reports, former pacer Ajit Agarkar and Tamil Nadu-born spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan are the favorites among many. The criteria have been circulated by the BCCI. Every member of the selection panel should have retired from the game atleast five years previously.
1: Seven Test matches
2: 30 first-class matches
3. 10 ODIs and 20 first-class matches.

MSK Prasad has stepped down from the position of the Chief Selector upon completion of his term. He had replaced Roger Binny in the year 2015. His tenure was often marred with controversies. There were questions over his credentials as he had played only six Tests and 17 ODIs. Prasad was good at communicating with the members of the media. His press-conferences gave a lot of clarity albeit certain statements that stirred controversy.
Prasad had faced flak for his comment on MS Dhoni’s slim chances of playing in the 2019 World Cup. Dhoni went through a lean patch ahead of the World Cup and Prasad’s statement was seen in poor light. The veteran cricketer though played some crucial knocks in the build-up to the marquee event and was eventually a vital cog in the XI.
