IPL 2021 Auction: Sam Billings Sold To Delhi Capitals For INR 2.00 Crores

Sam Billings, who opted out of IPL 2020 has also set his base price at INR 2 crores. Sam Billings was part of Chennai Super Kings’ 2018 title-winning campaign and played ten matches in that edition for them. The Englishman is not only an explosive striker of the ball but can also keep wickets.

The 29-year old has featured in 22 IPL matches, amassing 334 runs at 17.58 with three fifties with a strike rate of 133.60. Billings also featured for the Sydney Thunder in the latest edition of Big Bash League, managing 260 runs at 28.88 alongside a strike rate of 142.85.

The Kent batsman flourished in the English summer of 2020, especially in the One-day arena against Ireland and Australia, crafting game-changing knocks. With Ben Stokes missing out on those limited-over games, Billings got an opportunity and he took it with both hands.

The right-handed batsman averaged 132 and 61 in both the three-match ODI rubber against Ireland and Australia respectively. Billings made two half-centuries and a century during the same and improved his chances of being a first-choice player for England in limited-overs cricket.
