Once again, the ball-tampering issue has seen a promising cricketer to receive a suspension from the game. This time, it is Nicholas Pooran of West Indies, who will miss the next four International games, as a punishment for changing the condition of the ball with his thumb. The action came after the video of him tampering the ball went viral in the cricketing world.
In the video, which went viral, the young West Indian Nicholas Pooran was seen suspiciously handling the ball while attempting to shine the ball. He can be seen rubbing the ball on the back of his thigh touching the seams and scratching the ball. The other details reveal that he used his thumb to get the grip of the ball.

Nicholas Pooran gets 5 demerit points:
Pooran was charged with violating Article 2.14 of the code, which relates to “changing the condition of the ball” after video footage showed him scratching the surface of the ball with his thumbnail. He will now miss the next four T20I games for the West Indies and will have five demerit points added to his record.
The further hearing isn’t required, as the stylish southpaw has accepted the punishment. The sanction was proposed by Chris Broad of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. It means that Nicholas Pooran will be absent from the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan.

Speaking of the same, Nicholas Pooran admitted that he made an error of Judgement and wants to accept the mistake. He also promises to not repeat a similar mistake again in his career.
Well, it is a loss for the West Indies to lose a player of his class. Nicholas Pooran is one of the very few West Indies’ players in recent times to have consistently performed well. In a team that has struggled to live to their expectations despite boasting of so many match-winners, Pooran has shone as a reliable batsman.
