Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) look like a rejuvenated side as they registered their third consecutive win in the IPL 2020 after beating Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. KXIP have started to look like an outside contender for the IPL 2020 after clinching victory over the top three sides in the tournament. West Indies powerhouse Nicholas Pooran has also shown faith in the team.

KXIP, chasing a target of 165 runs, lost their top-order – KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Chris Gayle quite early. Nicholas Pooran held the fort for KXIP and was well supported by Glenn Maxwell to help KXIP cross over the line. The victory ensure KXIP to stay alive in the competition.

Everything is working for us now: Nicholas Pooran

“Everything is working for us now. We have started to click as a team. Most importantly, I always believe that in T20 cricket, momentum is everything. I think we have started to peak at the right time. We do not want to take anything for granted and just want to continue to improve,” Pooran told Glenn Maxwell in a video posted by iplt20.com.

“Before these three games, we spoke and it was that we have to win, Chris (Gayle) spoke about that there is only one way from here and it is upwards. We knew that we have to deliver in the powerplay and at the backend,” he said.

“Chris is back in the team, he brought a lot of confidence. Shami, CJ, and Arshdeep are having an impact and spinners are also having a big impact,” Pooran added.

Pooran was the aggressor in the match against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday but Glenn Maxwell, who has been out of form, played a perfect second fiddle as he rotated the strike to keep the scoreboard ticking.

The Punjab franchise are currently fifth in the table with eight points.
