Nicholas Pooran has been striking the ball cleanly in the ongoing season of IPL and been an integral part of Kings XI Punjab’s resurgence. Nicholas Pooran was one of the retained players ahead of this year’s extravaganza as he showcased his hitting power in the past year for the West Indies, becoming a vital cog of their limited-overs side. Former Indian great Sachin Tendulkar claimed that the southpaw’s stance and backlift reminds him of JP Duminy.
Nicholas Pooran sparkled against the Delhi Capitals last night in Dubai when he top-scored with 53 off 28 deliveries. It was a much-needed innings for the franchise as KXIP found themselves three down after the powerplay in pursuit of 165. Even after losing three wickets, the left-handed batsman played his natural game, hitting six fours and three sixes.
Sachin Tendulkar, who is amongst the one to closely follow this year’s extravaganza, took to his official Twitter handle and commented that Nicholas Pooran’s backlift and stance reminds him of JP Duminy and lauded the West Indian for his power hitting. JP Duminy, who retired from international cricket last year, was a classy left-handed batsman and was largely a white-ball specialist. He played 46 Tests, 199 ODIs, and 81 T20Is for South Africa.
