Nidahas Trophy 2018: Skippers unveil glittering Trophy in Colombo

The Nidahas Trophy 2017-18 is all set to begin in Sri Lanka this week. Owing to the Tri-nation series, the other two teams include India and Bangladesh. The competition will run through March 6 and March 15 respectively.
However, Team India will be led by Rohit Sharma in the absence of Virat Kohli, who opted to rest back home. It came after the success in the limited-overs series in South Africa. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni opted for rest. Board is also testing out the bench strength.
Earlier, in February the National Selectors for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced the 15-member squad which touched down in Sri Lanka on March 4 (Sunday).
Team India’s Instagram account revealed Rohit unveiled the trophy alongside Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah Riyad and hosts captain Dinesh Chandimal.
Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed Mahmudullah as the skipper. It came after Shakib Al Hasan failed to recover in time following a finger injury. The star all-rounder flew to Thailand for a week owing to the rehabilitation process.

Of late, Sri Lanka has been depleted by injuries. It simultaneously saw Angelo Mathews struggling to play regular cricket for the national team.
Moreover, India will kick off the campaign in the Twenty20 series opener against the Islanders on March 6.
Apart from the proceedings, Men in Blue are termed favourites for the competition. The dominant team had a remarkable run white-ball cricket.
India routs the Proteas 5-1 in the six-match Momentum ODI series. They replaced Proteas to clinch No.1 in ICC ODI rankings.
Rohit, who had a mixed outing in the white-ball cricket after torrid outing in the Test fold. He is expected to return in some form to deliver results for the top-notch team on Sri Lankan shores.

Overall, all seven fixtures including final will be held at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The short video footage appeared on the official Instagram account of Team India. It has already garnered 48,789 likes which saw 228 comments.
