Indian skipper Virat Kohli looks set to tour West Indies for the complete length of the tour as a report in India Today has suggested that will travel with the team and will not be taking rest. Multiple reports had suggested that Kohli might be taking rest, but this report confirms that he will be part of the tour.

Kohli could have taken rest had India won the World Cup but the Men in Blue failed to chase down a target of 240 in the semi-final, crashing out of the tournament from the semi-final stage. Since then, there were rumours that both Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah might take rest.

While Kohli looks set to travel to the Caribbean islands, Bumrah could be rested at least for the limited-overs series. India have been following the policy of resting pacers on a timely basis and Bumrah has been playing non-stop cricket since the month of March. He is expected to be rested for ODI and T20Is while the right-arm pacer could make a comeback for Tests.

Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane would have led the Indian team in limited-overs and Test cricket respectively had Kohli opted to take rest. The national selectors will name the squad for the tour in a day or two and few surprises are expected to come out of the meeting.

As per a report in TOI, MS Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the tour. Hence, his name will be missing from the list. Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav might find it difficult to retain their place in the team.

Likes of Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya and Axar Patel are expected to be named in the squad. Mayank Agarwal is also expected to retain his place in the side. He was called into to the World Cup squad after an injury to Vijay Shankar.

India play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests on the tour. The first two T20Is will be played in Florida before the action will move to the Caribbean islands. The two Test matches on the tour will be played in Antigua and Jamaica respectively.
