Former India batsman Yuvraj Singh has come up with a surprising pick for the finalists of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL 2020 has entered its business phase with all the teams having played at least eight games each so far.

At present, Delhi Capitals are at the top of the points table with seven wins from nine games. They are all but assured of a place in the playoffs. Defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers are in the second and third spot respectively while Kolkata Knight Riders complete the top four.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab are holding the last four spots in the points table. And while only time will tell which teams make it to the final of this year’s IPL, Yuvraj Singh has surprisingly picked Kings XI Punjab as one of the finalists.

KXIP are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with just two wins from their opening eight games. At this stage, they are not even looking likely to make it to the playoffs. However, Yuvraj Singh snubbed the likes of RCB, KKR, SRH and other teams in contention as he backed KXIP to not only qualify for the playoffs but also the final.

Yuvraj Singh made his prediction while KXIP were playing against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. He also praised KXIP batsman Nicholas Pooran for his shots against the reigning champions before predicting this year’s finalists. The batting legend wrote that either Delhi or Mumbai would play the final against KXIP, tweeting:

“Looks like tonight’s game changer is going to be @nicholas_47! Beautiful flow of the bat ! So amazing to watch ! Reminds me of someone I live within! Game on ! My prediction I feel @kxip will go all way to playoffs and play the finals along with @mipaltan or @DelhiCapitals”
