IPL 2020: David Warner Breaks Virat Kohli's Record To Become Fastest To 5,000 IPL Runs

SunRisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner. on Sunday, became the fastest player to score 5,000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League. The left-handed batsman achieved the feat during the game against Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi.

In the process, he also became the first overseas player and overall fourth player to score 5,000 runs in IPL. The other three players to breach the 5,000-run mark in IPL are – Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Rohit had achieved the feat in the ongoing IPL t00.

The Australia star broke Kohli’s record to become the fastest man to score 5,000 runs in IPL. Kohli had reached the mark in 157 games. David Warner, on the other hand, took only 135 matches for the same. As far as Raina and Rohit are concerned, they crossed the mark in 173 and 187 games respectively.

Meanwhile, Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the history of the competition. The Royal Challengers Bangalore has scored 5759 runs in 187 games with the help of 5 centuries and 38 fifties. He is followed by Raina and Rohit.

Delhi Capitals star Shikhar Dhawan complete the top five of the highest run-scorer in IPL. The southpaw, who scored his maiden IPL ton earlier this week, is also looking set to breach the 5,000-run mark this IPL. So far, he has scored 4,938 runs. AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni, Chris Gayle, Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir are in the top ten of the highest run-scorers too.
