When it comes to India-Pakistan relationship, Gautam Gambhir never stops from speaking his mind out. The left-handed batsman has openly criticised the terrorist attacks from the other side of the border and has delivered yet another big statement.

In the wake of rising ceasefire violations by Pakistan, Gambhir has said that conditional boycott would not be enough for improving India-Pakistan relations.

India have had eventually stopped all the bilateral ties with Pakistan in cricket. The arch-rivals have not played a full-fledged bilateral Test series since 2007. Pakistan visited India for three Tests and five One-Day Internationals.

However, both countries went on to play a short series of three ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals in India, in December 2012.

Otherwise, both have faced each other only in the ICC organised events or the Asia Cup.

Gambhir, however, feels that India should ban Pakistanis from all industries, including music and film industries.

“Merely boycotting cricketing ties with Pakistan will not help. If a ban is imposed, it should be in all sectors, be it films, music or any other. Nobody from Pakistan should be provided an opportunity to perform in India unless the relations between the two neighbours improve,” he told ANI.

He further said that the Indian government should take strict actions against Pakistan on account of the rising ceasefire violations along the border.

“In the recent past, we have initiated talks with Pakistan on many occasions, but no substantial outcome has been achieved. Every country has its own level of patience and importance. First thing, of course, is to talk; but if that doesn’t work, one has to take strict action. There is no point in politicising the matter,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir had voiced his opinion on India-Pakistan matter in the past too. In October 2016, Gambhir had said that India should not have any ties with Pakistan until cross-border terrorism stops.

Gambhir recently made it to the news headlines after stepping down as Delhi Daredevils skipper.
