It seems like all the sorts in the world are with Cricket Australia. More often than not, they are being struck by the bad news since the ball-tampering saga. The latest to be added to their vows is the injury of Usman Khawaja. The flamboyant batsman injured his ankle which kept him away from batting in the 2nd innings in Abu Dhabi against Pakistan and requires surgery.

Usman to go under the knife

The stylish southpaw had twisted his ankle on the other day thus being out of the field on day three of the game. It also asked the Australians to push Shaun Marsh to the opening slot, who failed miserably.

Meanwhile, the latest buzz from the camp is that the batsman’s ankle is in the pretty poor state which requires surgery. If he gets under the doctor’s knives, he would probably miss the initial phase of the home summer.

Meanwhile, Usman Khawaja went for scans late on Thursday, which revealed although he has not re-torn his anterior cruciate ligament, he has suffered a meniscal tear.

Usman Khawaja is unlikely to bat in the second innings of Pakistan vs Australia 2nd Test:

Most probably, Usman won’t be available to bat out the Test match for Australia against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi. With none of the Australian batsmen showing their fight to save the game, the requirement for Khawaja to bat would be less.

Coming to the progress of the match, Pakistan is pretty much on the brink of the victory with their players displaying high-quality cricket. Mohammed Abbas is once again doing the trick with the ball for Pakistan.

All in all, it would be interesting to see how the Australian management would cover the loss of Usman Khawaja. With the series against India around the corner, Australians need to do their best to get the best squad possible.
